How Does Solar Energy Work? Pedagogical Guide: X-Ray for Change Sowing Transition Report Sowing Transition Report (English)We worked, designed, and dreamed up this project with the Organización Familia Pasta de Conchos and Iniciativa Climática de México. Sowing Transition seeks to transform the narrative of a region that has been a sacrifice zone for over 100 years. We are convinced that what is now called the Carboniferous Region can be renamed the Solar Region. The young people who today feel their lives are tied to coal can find other ways of life and well-being. Above all, we are deeply moved by the belief that life is worth more than coal.

This project promotes school gardens and memory gardens. The former serve as a living learning space, fostering new ways to relate to the land and life-sustaining resources. Thanks to collaboration with CECyTEC and the vision and commitment of the staff and administrators of the Barroterán campus, young people in this area now enjoy and maintain a fruitful testament to the fact that their land can heal and sustain life.

Meanwhile, the Memory Gardens aim to create a network of living memory spaces for families and individuals affected by coal mining. Many have lost loved ones in the multiple mining disasters that plague the region. These gardens offer a new sense of identity and connection for those who await justice.
